La Grange Saves Money Keeping Lights Up All Year
The Village of La Grange saved $12,000 keeping last year's holiday lights up all year.

announced today on their website that they are beginning a new program for the installation of holiday lights around town. The new plan saves money by replacing strands around the village every two years.
As part of a cost containment effort, village officials said they decided not to remove last year's holiday lights wrapped around trees in the Central and West End business districts. As a result, the village said it saved taxpayers an estimated $12,000.
The majority of the light strands were able to weather the seasons, the village said. As a result, outside contractors were not needed to reinstall the lights this year.
