La Grange Wants To Repave Downtown Street
The village hopes to get federal money for the project. It is hiring an engineer.

LA GRANGE, IL – La Grange wants to resurface three blocks of Burlington Avenue from La Grange Road to Ogden Avenue.
But officials said they need to do preliminary engineering first before they can get outside money.
Burlington is included on the West Central Municipal Conference's list of projects for consideration. The goal is to get federal money that would pay for 80 percent of the work.

One of the scoring criteria is "project readiness." The village has a zero in this category, prompting the call to hire an engineer.
Crystal Lake-based Baxter & Woodman, the go-to engineering firm for many suburbs, has been selected to do the work. It is set to receive up to $68,000.

According to village documents, the preliminary engineering is expected to be done by January 2028, which is 2½ years from now. The goal is to finish the project by November 2028.
The money for the engineering was included in this year's budget.
The issue is on the Village Board's meeting agenda on Monday.
