LG Celtics 2006 First XI Girls made club history again with 2nd place finish in the 2019 National Cup XVIII Midwest Regional Tournament
The LG Celtics 2006 First XI Girls made club history again with a 2nd place finish in the 2019 National Cup XVIII Midwest Regional Tournament.
Their first game was vs St. Croix Academy out of Minnesota. Celtics won 6-0. Izzy Wirtz (La Grange) had a hat trick in the first half with Josie Pochocki (La Grange Park) scoring 2 goals and Riley Wengerd (Western Springs) scoring 1 goal. The shut out goes to Kate Grubish (La Grange Park) and Olivia Austin (Western Springs). It was a total team effort coming out ready to defend and attack.
Game 2 was vs Salvo SC out of Minnesota. With effort and determination the 06 girls pulled out tough win 3-2. Goals by Josie Pochocki, Caroline Henige (Hinsdale), and Riley Wengerd.

Game 3 vs EWSC GU13 Costa (also from Minnesota) ended in a tie 0-0. They finished in first place and moved on to the championship game.
The girls fell short to Ohio Premier Green losing 0-2 in the championship game. The girls worked hard but the calls and the ball weren't going their way. The entire LG Celtics family is proud of their "effort and determination." The girls played their hearts out!

Last year the team celebrated a 2nd place finish in the 12U Illinois Youth Soccer Junior State Cup, the top level statewide competition in Illinois.
