Longtime La Grange Restaurant Changing Hands
A "seamless" transition is expected, but the hours may be shortened.
LA GRANGE, IL — Palmer Place Restaurant and Biergarten, which has been in business for nearly four decades, is expected to change ownership next month, according to village documents.
At Monday's Village Board meeting, trustees are expected to vote on granting a liquor license to the new owners, DLT Operations Inc., owned by David and Leslie Tarman. They also own The Silo Restaurant in Lake Bluff, which is in Lake County.
According to Palmer Place's website, the Palmer family opened the restaurant in 1983. It is at 56 S. La Grange Road. Patch left a message for comment Friday with the restaurant's owners.

At a La Grange Liquor Commission meeting this week, Village President Mark Kuchler said the Tarmans were looking to complete a "seamless" transition of the ownership of the business, according to meeting minutes.
David Tarman said he and his wife, Leslie, fell in love with La Grange after being introduced to it. They said The Silo and Palmer Place are similar because they are family restaurants with deep roots.

The Tarmans told the commission they would keep the Palmer Place name and may add menu items and shorten operating hours. They expected the transaction to close in January.
Kuchler asked whether the Tarmans would continue hosting Palmer Place's annual St. Patrick's Day event. David Tarman said they were considering it and looking into the permit process.
The Tarmans were told they would need a special use permit if they continued Palmer Place's tradition of offering regular live music.
