Lyons to Commemorate Veterans at Memorial Day Services

The event will take place at 11 a.m. May 30 in Lyons.

Lyons, IL - Lyons Mayor Christopher Getty and village officials will honor veterans at the annual Memorial Day commemoration, to be held Monday May 30. 

Because of water main construction on Ogden Avenue, the event will be moved from the water pumping station to the front of the Lyons Village Hall, 4200 Lawndale Ave.

The event starts sharp at 11 a.m. adjacent to a memorial erected at the Village Hall in honor of former Lyons resident Sgt. James W. Robinson, Jr., who died in the Vietnam War on April 11, 1966, and received the Congressional Medal of Honor.

A color guard and representatives of the local American Legion Post 699 will present at the ceremony.
