Lyons Township High Hopeful Backed By Mayor

The mayor cited the candidate's "significant managerial experience."

LA GRANGE, IL – A Lyons Township High School board candidate in Tuesday's election has picked up the endorsement of an area mayor.

Elias Lopez, an official in the Hodgkins Park District, received the backing of Countryside Mayor Sean McDermott.

McDermott has also endorsed board candidate Arlene Cabana, an attorney. Five candidates are vying for four board seats.

In his statement, McDermott noted Lopez's role as president of the La Grange School District 105 board.

"Elias’ commitment to the community is longstanding," McDermott said. "He has significant managerial experience and will ensure that our property tax dollars are spent in a fiscally responsible manner. Most importantly, Elias cares deeply about the quality of the educational experience for our students and will work to maintain the highest academic standards at LTHS."

Besides Lopez and Cabana, the other candidates are incumbent Gioia Giannotti Frye, Chris Kozelka Campbell and Shawn Kennedy.
