Ding-Dong Ditch X 3

A group of kids played ding-dong ditch three times at a house in the 1000 block of South 6th Avenue around 5:06 p.m., police said. Officers weren’t able to find the kids but told the resident to call them if it occurs again.

Gypsy Shooed from in Front of Trader Joe's

A woman who self identified as a gypsy denied panhandling in front of Trader Joe’s around 7:23 p.m., police said. She and two other subjects were sent on their way.

Man Yells on Street Corner

A man in a grey shirt and tan pants yelled at people who walked past him around 11:13 a.m. at the corner of Harris and La Grange, police said. The man was sent on his way.

2 Public Urinators

Two men were seen urinating on a building around 12:56 p.m. in the 700 block of West Burlington, police said. Officers weren’t able to find them.

Sunday, Aug. 18

Neighbor Hits Car

A woman said her neighbor struck her car while it was parked in a lot in the 0-99 block of North Madison Friday evening, police said.

Suspicious Men

A resident said her neighbor told her that two young men parked in front of her house at about 11:30 the previous evening, police said. One of the men ran to her backdoor before leaving the scene, the report said. There wasn’t any damage to the door or apparent attempt to get inside.

Saturday, Aug. 17

Car Vandalized

A car parked in the 100 block of North La Grange Road was vandalized, police said.

Tired of Obama

A man called 911 from the La Grange Road Train Station and told police he was “tired of Obama but respects Michelle,” police said. He requested an ambulance but said he didn’t want to go to the hospital. He also told police that “it didn’t matter ‘cause it was going to end and he was going to end ‘it.’” The man asked to be taken Dunkin' Donuts. Editor's Note: An earlier version of this story stated that an ambulance took the man to Dunkin' Donuts. Drag Racing

Two cars were reportedly drag racing around 2:08 a.m. near Cossitt and Madison, police said. Officers located one of the drivers, who denied racing. An officer warned him and then stayed in the area.
