Andrew has been a caddie at Butterfield Country Club for the past six years. “During my time at Butterfield, I have learned patience, respect and hard work. Being a caddie, there are many long days, but being patient and persistent pays off in the end.”
Andrew also offers credit to Nazareth for helping him develop the necessary qualifications to become an Evans Scholar. “The challenging classes at Nazareth definitely shaped me to be a scholar. All of the service opportunities and extra-curriculars I took part in shaped me into a leader and have taught me how to live in fellowship.”
The scholarship will be formally presented during the Senior Awards Assembly on May 20, 2016. Andrew joins Cassandra Marquez as the second Chick Evans Scholar from Nazareth’s Class of 2016. He is also the second member of his immediate family to earn the award. His brother Matthew was named a Chick Evans Scholar when he graduated from Nazareth in 2011.
The Evans Scholars Foundation offers this award to approximately 200 scholars each year, granting tuition and housing at the nation’s finest universities. Since 1930, more than 10,000 outstanding students have been awarded Evans Scholarships. Most attend one of the fourteen universities where the Evans Scholars Foundation owns and operates a Scholarship House. At those houses, students live and work together cooperatively.
