La Grange Park, IL - Jassiem Renfro has been named the Nazareth Academy Student of the Week. He is a member of the Class of 2016, of Lindop School in Broadview.

“Jassiem is an outstanding young man who is a leader in our school community who has worked hard to give voice to the concerns of students of color. I look to him for his insights and advice on ways to promote multiculturalism in our school. He works tirelessly to promote diversity and equity.” said Mrs. Kokontis, youth initiative.

President of Senior Board, EPICS, Diversity Club, Kairos Leader, Black Student Association, Youth Initiative, National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Illinois State Scholar

What’s your favorite thing about Nazareth?
I loved Kairos Retreat because it taught me a lot about myself and brought me closer to those around me. I also appreciate all the opportunities available to me at Naz.

What are your post high school plans?
I plan to major in accounting at The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

I think the pillar of Unity is the foundation for scholarship, service and spirit. My experience at Nazareth has taught me that few things in life are possible without teamwork.

What’s one thing people might not know about you?

I can solve a Rubik's Cube in a minute and 20 seconds.
