'No Community Threat' after Suspicious Man Reported Near 49th & Spring

Police have confirmed it was a former school custodian who was back for a visit.

Police say there’s nothing to fear after parents received a school alert Friday afternoon about a suspicious man near Spring Avenue and 49th Street.

The Doings reported that a man in a green SUV drove up next to a 13-year-old boy March 6 and claimed to be a retired Gurrie Middle School teacher. He asked the boy if he remembered him before the boy walked away without responding.

La Grange Police Chief Michael told Patch Saturday morning that officers have confirmed that the man was a former custodian visiting the school and that there is no community threat.
