No Competition Yet For La Grange Election

Like Western Springs, La Grange's races are typically quiet.

LA GRANGE, IL – The tradition of quiet La Grange elections may continue.

La Grange hasn't seen a competitive contest for village president in a couple of decades. The last time trustee candidates saw opposition was in 2017.

So far, Village President Mark Kuchler is the only candidate for his position in the April 1 election.

Incumbents Peggy Peterson, Lou Gale and Glenn Thompson are unopposed for the three Village Board positions.

For village clerk, incumbent Paul Saladino is running.

For the local library board, Bethany Griffin has submitted her name.

Candidates have until 5 p.m. Monday to file their paperwork.

A longtime local group, the Citizens Council of La Grange, has long slated candidates for local offices. The council's website does not indicate that it has nominated anyone yet.

Neighboring Western Springs has a slating group called the Western Springs Caucus, which recommends candidates for local public offices. That town has not seen a competitive election since 2005.
