Put some spring in your step at La Grange Spring Shopping Stroll
Over 20 retailers with special offers!

Looking for a little retail therapy? The Spring Shopping Stroll in La Grange is just what you need; experts report that visiting your favorite boutique can enhance your mood. Some brain-fueled happiness can be found at over 20 La Grange stores and restaurants on Saturday, April 9 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. as the La Grange Business Association organizes a feel-good shopping adventure with free gifts, discounts or one-day-only offers at local businesses.
Studies show that shopping, especially for gifts, may boost serotonin, the happy chemical in our bodies associated with feelings of well-being. Denise Oros, the owner of Linnea Jewelers, says she sees the mood enhancing properties of shopping from her customers on a regular basis. “We bring both a smile and a sparkle to La Grange,” she said.
Starting at 10 a.m., colorful free tote bags will be distributed to the first 200 shoppers who begin their stroll at Linnea Jewelers at 23 S. Ashland, the event’s presenting sponsor. Shoppers can visit participating merchants with their totes to receive special offers and/or free gifts with purchase, while supplies last.

Love Your Local
The Spring Shopping Stroll is another promotion in a series organized by the La Grange Business Association to help position the Village as a shopping and dining destination. It is held with the support of the Village of La Grange. “Spending at a small business is really the feel-good story,” said Nancy Cummings, the executive director of the La Grange Business Association. “Invest in the community by supporting the local entrepreneurs who are your neighbors and friends. Together, they provide us all with more choices, more diversity, and they are what make La Grange different from any other village in the world.”
One Chicago study found that $68 of every $100 spent at a local independent merchant stays in the community versus only $43 spent at a chain store. Local businesses create higher-paying jobs and reinvest more tax dollars.
