Rescue in the Des Plaines River Wednesday Morning

Crews went into the river at about 6 a.m. to pull the man out near the Millbridge Road bridge in Lyons.


Rescue crews pulled a man from the Des Plaines River Wednesday morning at about 6 a.m. The man had been in the water for some time. Lyons Fire Department crews blocked lanes on the Millbridge Road bridge to conduct the rescue. Police threw him a life preserver but he did not grab it, so they went out and grabbed him. Police are trying to determine why he was in the river. He was taken to a local hospital.
