Suspicious Van Driver Approached Girl in La Grange
The incident, involving a 13-year-old girl, took place Nov. 19, police say.

A 13-year-old girl was approached around 5:55 p.m. Nov. 19 by a suspicious man driving a van.
The girl was walking home, northbound on the east sidewalk in the 700 block of Spring Avenue, according to La Grange police.
She noticed car lights behind her, and the vehicle seemed to be matching her walking speed. The van pulled up next to her and the man driving asked if she could help him find his dog.

The girl ignored the man, and he didn’t say anything else. She was close to home, and when she got to the front of her house, she thinks the driver may have opened his van door, police reported.
The girl went quickly into her home and told her parents what happened. The driver left northbound on Spring Avenue.

The driver was described as a man in his 40s with dark hair in a ponytail, wearing dark clothing, police reported. The van was white with no known damage and tinted windows.
La Grange police aren’t aware of any other events involving the man and van described.
