Three Home Burglaries Reported in La Grange Recently

Police offer several tips for residents to help deter burglars.

La Grange, IL — Three home burglaries have been reported in La Grange over the past week.

The burglaries took place in the 800 block of S. Edgewood, the 500 block of S. Brainard and the 1100 block of S. Waiola, according to the village of La Grange.

A task force of municipal officers is actively investigating these incidents. Police are asking anyone who may have information about these crimes to contact the La Grange Police Department’s Investigative Division at 708-579-2333.

Similar burglaries have also been reported in neighboring villages and towns.

The La Grange Police Department offers the following crime prevention tips to help deter residential burglaries:

  1. If you observe an unfamiliar person, vehicle, situation or anything out of the ordinary in your neighborhood, please call 911.
  2. If a suspicious person knocks on your door claiming to work for the Village, utility or construction company, and cannot produce appropriate identification, do not let them in your home or leave your home at the request of the individual. Immediately call the La Grange Police Department by calling 9-1-1.
  3. Do not be fooled by individuals claiming to be refunding an overpayment or reporting a hazard to your home. Call 9-1-1 immediately.
  4. Do not leave your doors unlocked to go into your yard with anyone that you do not know.

If you hear or see anything suspicious or out of the ordinary, call 911 right away. Give a description to the operator, but don't confront the suspicious people.
