Two Men with a Handgun Attempt Armed Robbery in La Grange: Police

The men tried to take a woman's purse Thursday night in the 100 block of Calendar Avenue.

La Grange, IL — Two men with a gun tried to rob a woman Thursday night in La Grange.

As the woman passed the men around 11:35 p.m. on the sidewalk in the 100 block of Calendar Avenue, one of the men said, "Hey lady, give me your purse," according to La Grange police.

She turned to look at the men and saw one of them was armed with a semi-automatic handgun, which was pointed in her direction.

The woman asked them to please not take her purse, and the men fled the area without taking the purse, police reported.

One of the men is described as black, 18 to 25 years old, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall with short hair and a thin build, according to police.

The other man is described as black, 18 to 25 years old, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall with shoulder-length dreadlocked hair and a thin build.

The Investigations Division is working on this case and trying to figure out if this incident is connected to a similar armed robbery in January and another incident on June 21.

Off-duty officers will conduct enhanced patrols throughout the holiday weekend.
