Unlicensed Driver Had 5 Unsecured Children in Four Seats: Police

The driver had been arrested twice before for driving without a license, police said.

Riverside, IL - A Summit woman was arrested April 4 after police found she had five unsecured children in the car's four passenger seats, and she had never been issued a driver's license.

A Riverside police officer pulled over the car at 3:40 p.m. at East Quincy and Harlem because it had expired registration plates, according to Riverside police.

Christina A. Gonzalez, 20 of the 5300 block of S. Hunt Avenue in Summit, was traveling with small five children, and none of them were properly secured in child safety seats or secured by restraint devices, police reported.

Gonzalez told the officer she had never gotten a driver's license. She was arrested, and a family member was called to pick up the children. Police made sure the relative had proper child seats in the car.

She was charged with expired registration, driving an unlawful vehicle with seats for four while having a total of six occupants in the car including the driver, three counts of failure to properly secure a child under the age of 8 in a child safety device, two counts of failure to secure a child in a booster restraint system, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and driving with no license.
