1. Police Seize 99 Grams of Meth, Syringes, Scales from Brookfield Residence

John Birch, 63, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a Class X felony charge of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Birch was also charged with misdemeanor of possession of drug paraphernalia.

A prosecutor said the Summit man stomped on girlfriend's phone and submerged it in water, then dragged her out of bed by her hair.

4. Construction Company Employee Dies in Deep Tunnel Project

The man has since been identified as Robert Ellison, 55, of Spring Grove in McHenry County.
