Carjacking Attempts In Lake Forest, Waukegan Lead to Arrest: Police
An Aurora man in a stolen pickup tried to carjack a woman near the hospital before attempting another carjacking at Walmart, police said.

WAUKEGAN, IL — An Aurora man is accused of trying to carjack multiple motorists last week in Lake County.
Isaias Curiel-Barraza, 28, of the 600 block of LaSalle Street, is charged with three counts of attempted vehicular hijacking, as well as three counts of disorderly conduct, two counts of assault and one count of reckless driving, fleeing or attempting to elude police and driving without a license, according to police and court records.
Curiel-Barraza was arrested by police after trying to carjack someone at the Waukegan Walmart, 3900 Fountain Square Plaza, immediately after attempting to carjack a woman in Lake Forest, according to police.

Officers had been called to the 1200 block of Westmoreland Road on June 15 for a report that a bearded man in a dark pickup truck pulled up beside her as she was waiting to turn into the Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Health and Fitness Center, brandished some kind of metal object and demanded her car, according to police.
Lake Forest police got a photo of the truck and its license plate from hospital security cameras and learned that it had been stolen earlier that day in a carjacking in Aurora, police said.

Following a bond hearing, a Lake County judge ordered Curiel detained ahead of trial unless he can come up with the $15,000 cash portion of his bond, according to the Lake County Sheriff's Office.
Curiel-Barraza is due back in court July 12 for a preliminary hearing.
