Deputy Near Scene Of DUI Crash Injured By Another Drunken Driver: Lake Forest Police
A Waukegan man crashed into a Lake County Sheriff's Office squad car after an earlier one-car crash with critical injuries in Lake Forest.

LAKE FOREST, IL — A drunken, uninsured Waukegan man with a gun in his car crashed into a sheriff's deputy's squad car Thursday in Lake Forest as he managed traffic near the scene of an earlier DUI crash, police said.
Police were dispatched to the first crash at the intersection of Route 41 and Route 60 shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Investigators believe a Ford SUV had been speeding south when it veered into the traffic lights at the southwest corner of the intersection.

Police said the crash caused "extensive damage" to the light poles and ejected two people from the car. Both suffered critical injuries and were taken to area hospitals.
Police suspect alcohol was involved in the crash, but charges have yet to be filed against either of the injured occupant.

Lake Forest police called in the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team to investigate. and auxiliary deputies from the Lake County Sheriff's Office helped with traffic control during the probe.
Shortly before 1:15 a.m., a GMC SUV headed south on Route 41 crashed into an auxiliary deputy's squad car at a traffic control post at Deerpath Road, according to police.
The deputy was taken to Lake Forest Hospital, treated for a wrist injury and released, authorities said.
Police said the driver appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and took him into custody.

Aaron Buckley, 22, was charged with aggravated driving under the influence, a felony due to his lack of insurance, unlawful possession of an firearm, a felony due to his ineligibility for a FOID card.
He also faces misdemeanor charges of DUI and violating Scott's Law, also known as the "Move Over" law.
Buckley was taken to Lake County Jail ahead of his initial court appearance Thursday.
