Driver Ejected In Fatal One-Car Crash Identified As North Chicago Man
His two passengers survived. They were both wearing seat belts. He was not, authorities said.

WAUKEGAN, IL — A North Chicago man died after he was ejected from the car he was driving in a one-car rollover crash in Waukegan, authorities said.
David Rodriguez, 36, was not wearing a seat belt and died as a result of multiple blunt force injuries from the crash, according to police and the coroner's office. His two passengers were wearing seat belts and survived without needing medical treatment.
Waukegan police and fire personnel were dispatched to a report of a crash near the intersection of Pershing Road and Water Street in Waukegan around 2 a.m. Friday.

They found a black Cadillac sedan on its roof and determined Rodriguez had been thrown from the car in the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Lake County Coroner's Office.
Investigators from the Waukegan Police Department's major crash unit determined that Rodriguez was driving south on Pershing and unable to navigate a curve, driving off the road and crashing into an embankment.

Police think both speed and alcohol played a role in the crash.
