Explosions Reported During Lake Forest Garage Fire

Firefighters extinguished a burning garage Monday evening in east Lake Forest.

LAKE FOREST, IL — Firefighters extinguished a blaze in a garage Monday evening in east Lake Forest.

Shortly before 8:45 p.m., the Lake Forest Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a garage fire near the intersection of Lake Road and Barberry Lane.

Reports of explosions came over the radio as fire crews headed to the scene. Lake Forest firefighters escalated the response, upgrading the incident to a "confirmed fire," according to Deputy Chief Andrew Rick.

Once they arrived at the scene of the burning detached garage, firefighters were able to bring it under control within 20 minutes.

Crews then carried out overhaul to ensure the fire was completely out.

No residents or firefighters were injured in the incident.

Fire crews from Deerfield, Glencoe, Lake Bluff, Libertyville and Waukegan assisted the Lake Forest Fire Department, according to Rick.
