Lake Bluff Issues Warning About Scammers Pretending To Be Sheriff's Office
Scammers claiming to be the Lake County Sheriff's Office are attempting to solicit money from Lake Bluff residents, officials say.
LAKE BLUFF, IL — Lake Bluff officials are warning residents about scammers calling and claiming to be the Lake County Sheriff's Office in an attempt to solicit money.
Over the last few weeks, residents have reported receiving these calls, where the caller would inform they either missed jury duty, have a warrant or owe fines or fees. During the calls, the scammers demand payment over the phone.
"Please be aware that NO ONE from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office will ever call you demanding money. If you get a call like this, hang up and call the Lake Bluff Police Department," officials said in a statement.

To verify the validity of these calls, residents can call the Sheriff's Office directly at 847-377-4000 to confirm a call is legitimate. To file a report with the Lake Bluff Police Department, call 847-234-8760.
