Lake Bluff Police Target Seal Belt Violators

Dragnet will continue through May 27.

A concerted effort by the Lake Bluff Police Department to step up enforcement of Illinois’s seat belt laws will continue through May 27, according to Deputy Lake Bluff Police Chief Dave Belmonte.

Between May 10 and Thursday, Lake Bluff Police handed out 15 tickets for seat belt violations, according to Lake Bluff Police reports. The effort is part of a statewide effort being encouraged by the Illinois Department of Transportation. The reports rarely show seat belt violations.

Police are stationing themselves near four-way stop signs and making an extra effort while on patrol, according to Belmonte.
