Local Honey Products Sold at Lake Bluff Farmers Market

Every week, thousands of bees arrive at the Lake Bluff farmers market.

Customers, however, have no need to be concerned. The bees are safely contained in manmade hive with a glass front, allowing passersby an up-close view of the creatures that will help produce next year’s honey.

Mark Leider, owner of Leider’s Local Honey, sets up shop each Friday at the Lake Bluff farmers market where he sells his own honey and a variety of other honey-related products.

“Actually, the bees make them and I just help get them into the bottles,” Leider said of the honey, honey and nuts, candles, lip balm, pollen and honey mustard he sells at the market.

“Everything we have here is all basically all natural stuff. No additives, no preservatives, and it’s all raw honey,” said Leider, who lives in Libertyville. He also sells honey at the Libertyville farmers market.

Leider began bottling local honey six years ago as a hobby, he said. He maintains hives in friends and customers’ yards across the suburbs, he said.
