Open Lands, City Seek Volunteers Saturday

Joint effort to remove garlic mustard set this weekend.

People with a bent for community service and nature are encouraged to be part of Volunteer Workday from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at either Forest Park or McCormick Ravine, according to information from the City of Lake Forest.

The program is a joint effort of the City and Lake Forest Open Lands Association. “This workday will be great opportunity for families to get their hands dirty and to learn about the ecological importance of both of these Lake Forest natural areas,” a City news release said.

Volunteers are encouraged to wear pants, long sleeves and sturdy shoes which can get dirty, according to the release. Gloves and safety glasses will be provided. People can contact the City Department of Forestry or Open Lands for more information.
