Creative minds return to College of Lake County’s Grayslake Campus on Saturday, April 9 for the 2nd annual Maker Faire Lake County, a show-and-tell for innovative designers, creators, builders and tinkerers.Â

To apply to be a Maker at the event, register for free by March 18 at www.clcillinois.edu/makerfaire.Â
Maker Faire celebrates the multifaceted fields of making, perfect for creative children and adults in Lake County—from engineers to scientists to crafters. The event also showcases CLC’s home for makers, the Baxter Innovation Lab, which opened in 2018.Â

Innovations can be hobbies, experiments or projects, ranging from human-powered machines and drones to wearables and e-textiles. Other ideas can come from the following areas: science, biology and chemistry projects; electric vehicles; interactive art and technology; kites; puppets; robotics; rockets; or sustainability and green technology. Ideas can also be digital fabrication, including 3D printing, computerized numerical control programming and laser technology.Â
Prior to Maker Fair is Make-a-Thon on Saturday, March 12. This one-day coding workshop is for makers grade 5 to adults ending with a team competition. Mentoring and technical assistance will be provided by CLC engineering interns. All the Make-a-Thon projects will be showcased at Maker Faire Lake County where attendees will vote on winners.
