• Shooting, burglary suspect arrested following hours-long standoff that prompted major SWAT response in Lake Zurich (lakemchenryscanner.com) — Police arrested a Lake Zurich man Saturday after an hours-long SWAT standoff on Whitney Road, following an overnight burglary and gunfire used to enter the Casey’s on South Rand Road. Nearby residents were evacuated while NIPAS negotiators worked for several hours before taking the suspect into custody without further injuries, and officers remained on scene as the investigation continued.
   

• Girls gymnastics: Carmel, Conant finish 2-3 at Lake Forest's Straus invite (dailyherald.com) — Lake Zurich’s girls gymnastics team finished eighth at the competitive 11-team Robin Straus Invitational in Lake Forest, with athletes Natalia Skora and Parvana Gireesh placing in the all-around standings. The meet was decided by a razor-thin margin, as host Lake Forest edged Carmel Catholic for the title while several suburban programs posted season-high scores.
