I&M Canal Trail Amenity Improvement Plans Move Forward

The Village has received an OSLAD grant to help with funding the amenity improvements.

LEMONT, IL — At its Monday meeting, the Lemont Village Board approved a professional services agreement for phase 1 design engineering on the Heritage Quarries I&M Canal Trail amenity improvements.

The agreement is between the Village and HR Green, Inc.

According to Board documents, amenity improvements will include installation of a new fishing pier, a new shelter for paddle sports, installation of a new overlook, installation of bench notes, cape sealing the existing stone/grindings parking lots, and asphalt paving the existing stone/grindings roadway with water quality improvements.

The total cost of the agreement is $120,000. The Village has received a OSLAD grand, which will cover 50 percent of the design cost. The Village will pay the remaining 50 percent, or $60,000.

The Board applied for grant funding through the Open Space Land Acquisition and Development grant program for fiscal year 2025.
