New Waste Management Contract Includes Rate Reduction
Under the new agreement, there would actually be a rate reduction for the monthly fee.
LEMONT, IL — At its Monday meeting, the Lemont Village Board approved a contract with Waste Management for refuse, recyclables and landscape waste services.
Village Administrator George Schafer said the Village's current agreement with Waste Management is set to expire at the end of the month. Waste Management has offered the Village a 5-year agreement with three option years.
"Services would remain the same," Schafer said. "We're very happy to announce that there would be a rate reduction for residents for the same level of services."

Under the new agreement, residents would pay $29.88 a month, which would be billed quarterly.
"We were able to keep the most generous senior discount in the area," Schafer added. According to Board documents, seniors receive a $3 discount. The contract does include an annual increase of 4.5 percent.
With the reduced rate, Lemont residents' monthly rate wouldn't exceed the current April 2025 monthly rate until 2028, Board documents state.
The new rate would go into effect May 1.
"Especially in this era of high inflation; for us to actually have a rate reduction is phenomenal," Mayor John Egofske said.
