Lemont Celtics JV Football Team Wins Conference Championship
The team won the Catholic Grade School Conference of Chicagoland championship on Sunday, Nov. 13, by defeating Infant Jesus of Prague 6-0.

The Lemont Celtics junior varsity football team was crowned the champion of the Catholic Grade School Conference of Chicagoland after beating Infant Jesus of Prague 6-0 on Sunday, Nov. 13.
The Celtics finished the season with a 9-2 record, and was not scored upon during the playoffs. They beat St. Thecla (Chicago) and St. Mary of the Woods (Chicago) en route to their championship showdown against Infant Jesus of Prague.
During the season, the team scored 200 points and only gave up 41.

The Celtics' offense was led by quarterbacks Jack Small and Seth Sczepanski, and running backs Drew Komandant, Gary Spencer and Matt Papiernik. The offensive line was anchored by Frank Gomulka, Nathan Stieber, Liam Moran, Jerry Radomski and Paul O’Leary.
Their defense was led by linemen Sam Pierson, Tommy Harlovic, Mike Scumaci, Tommy Small, Marcus Mathias and Joe Klaff and linebackers Matt DiNardi, Bruno Caruso and Matt Papiernik with defensive backs Brendan Collins, Drew Komendant and Gary Spencer.

Steady and crucial PAT kicking was done by Cormac Lee.
The Celtics are led by head coach Dan Wollenberg and assistant coaches Mike Moran, Gary Spencer, Dan Brannigan, Paul Andreotti, Greg Papiernik, Mike Small and Chris Pawell.
“This was the most successful season on and off the field for the program since we started it five years ago,” Wollenberg said. “We are very proud of the kids’ success and the character and sportsmanship they demonstrated on the field and in our community."
