• CITGO Lemont Refinery Awards First Responder Grants To Local Agencies (patch.com) — Lemont residents can see local first responders benefit from $80,000 in new grants awarded by the CITGO Lemont Refinery through its CAER First Responder Grants Program. Funding is going to Lemont police and fire districts, along with neighboring agencies, to upgrade equipment, training, and overall emergency response capabilities that help keep the community safer.
   

• Lemont's Hometown Heroes Banner Program Returns For 2026 (patch.com) — Lemont is again inviting families to honor local service members through the 2026 Hometown Heroes banner program, which displays personalized military banners along State Street from Memorial Day through Veterans Day. Only 48 spots are available at $75 each, and applications are already open on the Village website, so interested residents should act quickly.
   

• WIU Student Spends Summer at Argonne National Laboratory (wiu.edu) — A Western Illinois University physics student spent her summer doing quantum research at Argonne National Laboratory in Lemont, gaining hands-on experience with cutting-edge equipment and even co-authoring a scientific paper. Her fellowship through the Chicago Quantum Exchange’s Open Quantum Initiative deepened her interest in quantum physics and materials science, and she plans to carry those lessons into graduate school and beyond.
