Lemont Police Arrest 23 During Labor Day Crackdown
The department participated in the statewide "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click It or Ticket" campaigns, which began last month.

More than 20 "significant arrests" by Lemont police earlier this month as part of a Labor Day traffic safety campaign.
The announced last week that eight impaired-driving arrests and at least 15 other significant arrests were made during the holiday crackdown, according to Lemont Police Sgt. Joe Miller, coordinator of the department's traffic safety program.
Beginning in mid-August, Lemont police joined nearly 300 other state and local law enforcement agencies for the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click It or Ticket" campaigns. The crackdown was funded by federal safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation's Division of Traffic Safety.

According to Miller, extra emphasis was given to the late-night hours when statistics show the highest number of motorists drink and drive and the fewest use their seatbelts.
"Our message is simple—you drink and drive, you lose," Miller said last month.
