Lemont Senior Becomes Boys’ Golf Program’s Second 4-Time State Finalist
Joey Scott tied for 22nd at the 2025 IHSA Class 2A Boys' Golf State Finals.

LEMONT, IL — Lemont High School senior Joey Scott closed his career by making more history as part of the school’s boys’ golf program, the school shared in a news release. Scott tied for 22nd at the 2025 IHSA Class 2A Boys’ Golf State Finals, which was contested at Weibring Golf Club at Illinois State University on Oct. 10-11.
He joins Raymond Sullivan ‘18 as the only players in program history to compete in four state finals events, LHS said.
Scott opened state finals play with a +7 78 in the first round, and shot a +2 73 in the final round. His +9 151 was just four strokes off of his previous 36-hole best in state finals competition.

Scott secured his state finals berth by tying for fifth and earning all-sectional honors with a +3 73 at the De La Salle Sectional, which was contested at White Pines Golf Club in Bensenville Head coach Justin Weidler’s team placed seventh in the team standings (317), and Scott was one of the top ten golfers from squads that did not advance to the state finals as a team.
Lemont (299) won the IHSA Joliet Catholic Regional at Inwood Golf Course. Scott earned medalist honors after shooting a -5 66, and Lemont captured the program’s 13th IHSA Regional crown.

Lemont captured its 20th consecutive South Suburban Conference title (and 22nd straight conference title overall) after sweeping the top five spots at the SSC Blue Meet, according to LHS. Sophomore Nathan Zdenovic was the individual medalist and SSC champion, while Scott (2nd), senior Chase Magolan (3rd), sophomore Niko Giannakopoulos (4th) and senior Dillon Bingen (5th) each earned all-conference accolades.
Scott is the only golfer in program history to earn multiple all-state honors in his career. He tied for ninth at the 2023 IHSA Class 2A State Finals, and tied for seventh in 2024, according to LHS.
Lemont’s first team state finals berth came in 2005, when the squad qualified for the IHSA Class AA State Finals. It advanced to the IHSA Class 2A State Finals each season from 2007-11, again annually from 2014-17, and each year from 2021-24. It won state trophies in 2011 (3rd) and 2023 (2nd).
