Lemont Senior Stanwyck Repeats in State Engineering Graphics Top-Five

The Lemont High School squad also won the Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering (WYSE) North Central College Sectional with a near-perfect score.

After helping, the Lemont High School Science and Engineering team to victory in the Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering (WYSE) North Central College Sectional, senior Justin Stanwyck has repeated his junior-year top-five performance at the WYSE Academic Challenge State Finals.Lemont Senior Stanwyck Repeats in State Engineering Graphics Top-Five 

According to an LHS press release, the Lemont squad won the regional competition in the 701-1500-enrollment division with a nearly perfect score of 499.1 points, capturing top honors in six of seven categories. 

Then Stanwyck, who finished fourth in the state in the engineering graphics competition last year, and tied for second at the sectional, at placed in a tie for fifth in the same category at the April finals at the University of Illinois.

Sectional winners included senior Sarah Reaves and freshman Misbah Chagpar (biology,) Lynn Stanwyck (chemistry, mathematics,) seniors Szymon Krzeptowski-Mucha and Paul Rachwalski (engineering graphics, computer science) and freshman Spenser Bailey (English.)

The press release describes the Academic Challenge as “a competitive series of tests created and administered by WYSE and offered to high school students in Illinois and Missouri at more than 50 community colleges and universities. Test material is drawn from senior high school and freshman level college curricula, and written by teams of college and university faculty.”
