Lemont Siblings Held on $2 Million Bail for Armed Robberies

Jaclyn Madera, 28, and Steven Madera, 36, are accused of using a fake gun to hold up immigrant women on Chicago's South and Southwest sides.

Two Lemont siblings remain held on $2 million bail each after they were accused of using a fake gun to hold up multiple immigrant women on Chicago's South and Southwest sides.

Jaclyn Madera, 28, and Steven Madera, 36, for incidents reported in the past two weeks, Chicago Police News Affair Officer Robert Perez said.

The siblings were arrested at about 7 p.m. Thursday in the 4600 block of South Mozart after police spotted them driving a white van that matched the description of one used during the reported robberies, Perez said.

The Chicago Tribune reports that Jaclyn Madera, who lives in the 500 block of Second Street in Lemont, acted as the getaway driver as her brother jumped out and stole gold necklaces from his victims at gunpoint. Two of her children were in the vehicle at the time.

The victims, at least one of whom was injured, positively identified both siblings during lineups, Perez said.
