Whiz Kids' School: Trinity Lutheran School in Burr Ridge (will attend in the fall)
Accomplishment: Hetrick, Lehenbauer, Burner, Barnacle and Douglass recently collected 2,000 books to the African Library Project, a nonprofit organization that organizes book drives in the United States to build libraries in rural Africa. The donation from Trinity Lutheran was recently shipped to New Orleans, and will eventually be sent to two libraries in Ghana.
Key to Awesomeness: The Lemont eighth-graders participated in the African Library Project to realize part of their school's mission statement, which addresses the importance of international service. Additionally, the 2,000 books collected far exceeded their original goal of 1,000.
