Lemont VFW Hosts Memorial Day Ceremony, Bus Tour

Lemont residents are invited to attend a cemetary tour and brief ceremony Monday morning to commemorate Memorial Day with the .

The VFW will honor the nation's military men and women beginning at 8:30 a.m. with visits to local cemeteries. The bus will leave from the post, 15780 New Ave.

Cemeteries to be visited include St. Alphonsus, St. Patrick and St. Matthew, among others.

The tour will conclude with a wreath-laying ceremony and 21-gun salute around 10:30 a.m. or 11 a.m. at the Lemont War Memorial in the 200 block of Main Street.

Residents are invited to attend the bus tour, ceremony or both.

Memorial Day Closings

Village Hall will be closed Monday for the Memorial Day holiday.

The will be closed Sunday and Monday. Drop boxes for return materials will also be closed due to repaving of the parking lot.

Village Hall and the Lemont library will both resume regular business hours Tuesday.
