Lemont's Thursday Sunset Soiree Canceled

LEMONT, IL — Lemont's sunset soiree concert scheduled for Thursday evening has been canceled due to the forecasted inclement weather and extreme heat, Lemont Park District shared.

Lemont remains under a heat advisory until 10 p.m. Thursday. Peak afternoon heat index values of 110 are expected, according to the National Weather Service.

The heat and humidity could also help fuel strong to severe storms Thursday afternoon into the evening, mainly southeast of a Waukegan to Peru line. The primary risk with the storms is locally damaging winds up to 65 mph, according to the weather service.

There is an elevated thunderstorm risk with a level 2 of 5 damaging wind risk, the weather service said.
