Business Closings: Slammers Pub and Grill, Salon Moda Leave Lemont
The restaurant, located at 1243 State St., and the salon, 12371 Derby Road, closed quietly over the weekend.
, located at 1243 State St. in Lemont, quietly closed its doors over the weekend after just one year in business.
The space formerly occupied by Slammers in Lemont Village Square was almost empty Tuesday afternoon. A sign was posted on the front door that reads, "Very sorry. Slammers closed 'til further notice."
Owner Tom Gangas was not immediately available for comment.

Slammers Pub and Grill opened in fall 2010, and celebrated its grand opening in December 2010.
Also closing its doors in Lemont was , located at 12371 Derby Road in the Riley's Pointe shopping plaza.

On Tuesday, a sign posted on the door read, "We are closed due to unforeseen circumstances with lease. Sorry for any inconvenience."
Salon Moda owner Ed Chlebek that he was preparing to close his business after receiving an eviction notice from Harris Bank, which owns the plaza.
For the past several months, the salon has been operating "on a month-to-month verbal agreement," without a formal lease. According to Chlebek, representatives from Harris Bank asked him to sign a new a lease for three years—something he was unwilling to do.
"Operating a small business is difficult and it's risky to sign a lease that long," Chlebek said.
Chlebek told Patch he has no plans to open the salon elsewhere.
