Weigh in on Next District 113A Superintendent at Community Forums

Lemont residents are invited to join school board members Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 at Old Quarry to provide input on the current superintendent search.

As the  Board of Education moves forward with its search for the district's next superintendent, Lemont residents are invited to take part in the process by attending two community forums this week.

Public forums will be held Tuesday and Wednesday at , 16100 W. 127th St., to identify "the characteristics the district will be looking for in the new superintendent," according to a district press release.

Both forums will be held at 7 p.m.

The District 113A school board began the superintendent search process in October after  at the end of the 2011-2012 school year.

However, Ricker's tenure with the district was cut short in December when board members  his resignation, effective Dec. 31.

District 113A is currently under the leadership of Asst. Superintendent Mary Gricus and Interim Superintendent Robert Madonia, .

Madonia will serve on a part-time basis until June 30, the date Ricker was scheduled to retire before he turned in his resignation.

District 113A board members will begin interviewing candidates in February. They hope to name a superintendent by April so he or she can take office by July 1.
