Work Continues On Athens Park, Derby Farms Park

Final touches are finishing up on Athens Park, with a planned fall opening.

LEMONT, IL — The Lemont Park District is sharing progress updates on two highly anticipated community projects: Athens Park and Derby Farms Park.

Construction at Athens Park is well underway, the park district said in a release. The District’s contractor, E.P. Doyle is working to complete the final touches.

The Village of Lemont has also been working on their project to improve the Stephen Street entrance and access to Athens Park; including pavement, pedestrian markings, and replacing the overpass’ limestone walls, according to a release.

The park will be open this fall, and an official ribbon cutting will be held in 2026.

Planning and design for Derby Farms Park are also moving forward as the District works with engineers and architects to create a welcoming and versatile space, the district said in a release. This park will feature a brand-new splash pad, sports fields, a playground and additional amenities.

“The progress on these projects demonstrates our dedication to creating dynamic spaces for
the community,” said Lauren Raspanti, Director of Marketing and Community Engagement. “We
are excited to see Athens Park taking shape and look forward to bringing Derby Farms Park
from vision to reality.”
