Amtrak Train Hits Welding Truck in Lisle Saturday Night
Metra trains on the BNSF line experience long delays all night after accident. Two workers hurt.
An Amtrak train struck a welding truck near Lisle Saturday night, forcing Metra to stop BNSF commuter trains late into the evening.
Two welders were taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital after the train hit the truck, according to Metra.

There were 114 passengers on the train. None were injured, and Amtrak arranged to move them from the train onto alternative transport.
A Lisle police spokesman told the Daily Herald the truck was parked too close to the signal tower and the engineer could not see the truck.

The latest word from Metra, as of 9:41 p.m. about Saturday night delays:
Train 1320 and 1322, will not operate due to an Amtrak train striking a large truck that scattered debris on the tracks. The BNSF Railway will not have inbound service until train 1324, scheduled to depart Aurora at 11:20 p.m. It is anticipated that train 1324 will have a delayed departure but the duration of the delay in departure is unknown. Updates will be posted.
