Blues music developed in the first half of the twentieth century due to the migration of Black workers from the South into the industrial cities of the North. Originally, the Chicago Blues was street-corner-based music, but after the music quickly gained popularity, it became a giant commercial enterprise. Soon the new style of music reached out and touched Europe. Blues is the basis for rock n' roll & many famous rock n' roll bands got their inspiration from the Chicago Blues.  Come and hear samples of early blues artists and trace the evolution of the blues.  The program begins with some music at 6:30 p.m.
