Get A Head Start On Spring Cleaning At Sustainable Saturday In Lisle

Residents can recycle electronics, bikes, batteries and other items at the March 15 event.

LISLE, IL — Lisle residents can get a head start on spring cleaning by unloading recyclable items at a Sustainable Saturday event planned for March 15 at Benedictine University.

Below is a list of the items that will be accepted at the free event, which runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

  • Electronic items
  • Books and vinyl records
  • Large batteries and household batteries
  • Functioning bicycles and bike equipment
  • Paint
  • Holiday lights
  • Clothing
  • Musical instruments
  • Paper
  • Foam

Some recyclable items may include a fee. Residents can pay in cash or by card and may pay ahead of time by clicking this link. Fees are listed below:

  • Televisions: $25 to $35
  • Batteries ($4 per pound)
  • Latex paint ($1 per quart, $3 per gallon, $15 for 5 gallons)
  • Smoke detectors ($1 each)
  • Aerosol cans ($1 each)
  • Propane tanks ($3 each)

It's anticipated the Sustainable Saturday event will have a large turnout, per the Village of Lisle website. As a result, the event will close early if it reaches capacity.

Sustainable Saturday will be held in Benedictine University's Rice Center Parking Lot. Cars will be required to use the entrance located on Maple Avenue.
