Repairs will begin with work to clean and seal the I-88 bridge structures over Yackley Avenue, Warrenville Road and Illinois Route 53. No local road lane closures on Yackley Avenue will be needed for this work. However, during the week of July 11, daily, off-peak lane closures will be scheduled between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Illinois Route 53 in both directions and on eastbound Warrenville Road at I-88.
Later this summer, overnight lane closures on I-88 will be required at all three locations, as well as at the Fox River and Highland Avenue to accommodate bridge joint repair work.
Electronic message signs will be put in place in advance to alert drivers. The temporary closures are necessary to provide a work zone and safely accommodate the I-88 bridge repairs.
In addition, later this summer two weekend-long closures of the ramp from westbound I-88 to northbound I-355 will be scheduled along with a posted detour. Work at this location will include bridge deck repairs and pavement work, in addition to bridge cleaning, sealing and joint replacement.
The I-88 bridge repair work is being coordinated with the Illinois Department of Transportation and DuPage County, along with local fire and police departments.
