Illinois State has 'Man with Weapon' Suspect in Custody

Students were alerted Tuesday afternoon to beware of an alleged man on campus with a weapon, the NWH reports.

Police at Illinois State University in Normal have a suspect in custody following alerts issued Tuesday, Feb. 12, about a man with a weapon on campus, the Northwest Herald reports. 

The first warnings were posted on the ISU website at 3:25 p.m., and another posted 20 minutes later said all residence halls and dining rooms were restricted to residents only, the Herald reports. 

A notice was issued at about 4:25 p.m. stating police had a suspect in custody and the "emergency situation has ended." The restrictions were lifted.

An ISU spokesman said the suspect is from Chicago and allegedly accosted a female student he was visiting.
