Lisle Baseball Wins Regionals and Advancing; Softball Upset
The Lions baseball team will play on Wednesday afternoon in a sectional final versus Chicago Christian Academy locally at Benedictine University.

With a 7-0 victory over Timothy Christian on Saturday, the Lisle High School Lions baseball team (18-10) captured the Class 2A Immaculate Conception regional championship and advanced to Wednesday’s sectional final versus Chicago Christian Academy at Benedictine University, the Bugle reports.
According to the paper, the three-hit, seven-strikeout shutout was credited to pitcher Ryan Van Volkenberg, with two RBIs from Cliff Krause and additional RBIs from Jake Oard, Adam Grego, Bailey Welch and Van Volkenberg himself; Lisle also beat IC Catholic Prep 7-4 on May 15 behind Alex Ventrella’s pitching and three RBIs from Kevin Coppin.
However, the Lions girls softball team’s season (13-12) was ended on May 14 in a narrow 5-4 extra-innings upset by Aurora Central Catholic, in which the top-seeded Lions staged an impressive fifth-inning comeback, but could only answer an eighth-inning pair of runs with a single one, the paper said; three of the team’s four hits came from pitcher Summer Stitt, who also tallied two RBIs and nine K’s.
