Lisle Community Jazz Band Concert Thursday Night

Here’s some of what’s going on in and around Lisle for Thursday, Aug. 1:

·      Thursday night is the Lisle Community Jazz Band’s summer concert! “Highlights of the jazz concert include music of Duke Ellington, Louis Prima, Tito Puente… You will be entertained with familiar selections including Birdland, Blue Skies, Sing Sing Sing, Harlem Nocturne and more.” The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Lisle Park District stage (1825 Short Street, Lisle) or at Lisle Senior High (1800 Short Street, Lisle) in case of rain.

·      As of Thursday, Aug. 1, the Lisle Park District’s autumn brochure will be available on the Lisle Park District website. Residents will also be sent the brochure in the mail, and anyone can pick up a copy at any Lisle Park District facilities.

·      Two new daily exhibits kick off at the Morton Arboretum today and will run through the rest of August: Butterflies and Blossoms (11 a.m.-4 p.m., “discover some fascinating facts about butterflies and create a beautiful butterfly disguise of your own to take home,”) and From Water to Wings (11 a.m.-4 p.m., “learn about the life cycle of a dragonfly and make a winged craft to take home.) Free with Arboretum admission.
