Lisle Cops To Target Drunk Drivers For Fourth Of July Crackdown

LISLE, IL — Lisle police plan to crack down on drunk drivers during a Fourth of July safety campaign that will be in effect starting June 16.

“It’s pretty simple: If you’re driving, don’t drink or use marijuana or other drugs or else you will be arrested,” Lisle Police Chief Kevin Licko said in a news release.

He added, “Our officers will be working around the clock to keep impaired drivers off the road and enforce all other traffic laws.”

Lisle police shared the following tips to help drivers stay safe this Independence Day:

• Give keys to a designated driver
• Call a taxi, rideshare service or use transit if too impaired to drive
• Call 911 if you spot a drunk driver
• Make sure drivers and passengers in your vehicle wear their seatbelts

Lisle's Fourth of July initiative is part of the statewide "Click It or Ticket" and "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaigns that are being supported by over 200 law enforcement agencies in Illinois.

The campaign runs through July 5.
